On September 10, Binance Africa, the African branch of Binance, organized a conference called Binance Meetup Benin, in Cotonou, the economic capital of the Republic of Benin. The event marks the first stage of a series of conferences called Binance Meetup Tour, the objective of which is to give better visibility to the exchange in the French-speaking region of the African continent.
In a broader sense, these get-togethers aim to educate the public about crypto adoption. This, in order to stimulate financial inclusion in the region.
This first stage of the Binance Meetup Tour was organized in one of the conference rooms of the Golden Tulip Hotel. A total of 300 people attended the event. Companies from the financial services sector were also represented.
There are hundreds of people who have not been able to gain access to the room. This is for Marie-Grâce, an enthusiastic crypto, proof that young Beninese are interested really into cryptos. The 22-year-old also said she was surprised at the excitement around the meeting.
“We are a small country with a low literacy rate, and where very little information is available about crypto outside of social media and where most people view crypto as a scam. I am a little surprised and at the same time delighted to see that there is a real crypto community in the country. »
A big moment ?
Several communications furnished the meeting. They were led by local industry players. Some guests, such as Loïc Ayemou, Community Manager of Binance Francophone Africa, also participated. Among other things, the panelists discussed issues of wallet security, scams, and Blockchain.
The event allowed curious young people who do not have an account on Binance to get help to create one.
“For me, it’s a great moment of exchange and sharing. I am delighted to have come here and I leave with the confirmation that I was not mistaken by being interested in cryptos. »said Daniel, a 19-year-old student, who says he discovered crypto last May.
In addition, several participants expressed their need to have a Binance debit card for the French-speaking region, as is the case in Argentina.
The next stop on the Binance Meetup Tour will take place in Togo on September 24. Then it will be Côte d’Ivoire on October 8, Cameroon on October 22 and Burkina-Faso on October 29.
By organizing meetings in French-speaking Africa, Binance seeks to develop its community in the region, but above all to participate in financial inclusion efforts.
