Solana Mobile, a subsidiary of Solana Labs, has announced the launch of “Seeker,” its second crypto-focused smartphone, scheduled for 2025. This new generation promises significant advancements over its predecessor, the Saga model.
A technological leap for mainstream adoption of crypto
At the Token 2049 conference, Solana Labs subsidiary announced the imminent launch of “Seeker,” its second crypto-focused smartphone.
The Seeker stands out for its hardware and software innovations. Emmet Hollyer, project manager, details notable improvements : ” Our new device offers a brighter screen, a better battery and an additional photo sensor. » The compact design makes it easy to use as a secondary device.
On the software side, the integration of a custom crypto wallet into the Seed Vault secure vault will significantly simplify the management of digital assets. This innovation thus directly responds to the needs expressed by the crypto community after the launch of the Saga.
Solana's unique decentralized app store will also get a major overhaul. The new interface will provide better discoverability of crypto applications, facilitating their adoption by users” says Hollyer.
A growing ecosystem
The announcement of the Seeker has sparked unprecedented interest from developers. Unlike the Saga, which had a timid start, the new smartphone has already benefited from more than 140,000 pre-orders.
“The excitement among developers is palpable,” Hollyer confirms. We are seeing a significant increase in teams interested in building applications for the Seeker, attracted by its potential user base and tokenized rewards opportunities.”
This positive momentum is partly explained by the unexpected success of the Saga. Initially shunned, Solana's first smartphone saw a resurgence of interest when traders realized the benefits of token airdrops associated with the device.
The Seeker is continuing this momentum by offering a Genesis NFT to each owner, opening the door to exclusive rewards and experiences in the Solana ecosystem.
The Seeker’s innovation isn’t limited to the crypto world. Solana Mobile collaborates with decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs) like Helium, allowing the smartphone to share GPS and cellular sensor data.
Although raising privacy concerns, this feature could prove valuable for optimizing decentralized networks.
