Cardano back to normal after a “big” outage!

On Sunday, January 22, Cardano experienced a minor network outage which was automatically resolved within minutes. However, network engineers said there was no root cause for the network outage yet. On GitHub, several developers claim to have noticed the problem, but that it only lasted for a short time.

Node failure: a common problem on blockchain networks

Nodes are network participants that are essential to the maintenance of any network since they maintain and execute the transactions on any blockchain.

According to Rick McCracken, a staking tool developer for Cardano, it is true that there was a brief period of decline. However, the majority of impacted nodes are quickly back to normal and it was not necessary to restart the network.

Indeed, on networks like Solana, blockchain nodes have already been taken offline. Such an incident last May caused the shutdown of the entire Solana network for more than seven hours. Similarly, in another incident in 2021, Solana validators had to restart the network in order to fix a network outage.

Netizens hail Cardano’s professionalism

A node failure can be caused by too much transactional activity or faulty programming. A quick repair, however, could indicate that the foundations of the affected network are sound. On the other hand, the Cardano community is pleased with the speed of recovery. She claims this proves that Cardano is a superior blockchain to Solana. Because the latter took several hours to repair its network after numerous failures in 2022.

Pi Lanningham, CTO of decentralized exchange SundaeSwap, also praises the Cardano network. For him, the striking resilience of the Cardano network has not gone unnoticed. Because, the value of the native ADA coins of Cardano would have increased slightly in the last 24 hours.

By solving a crucial problem so quickly, Cardano has just reinforced its confidence with its users and investors. In fact, this is the first network to fix a node issue in such short notice.
