BlackRock is boarding the Metaverse train with an ETF

BlackRock, the investment giant, has launched an exchange-traded fund (ETF) focused on tech companies with exposure to the Metaverse. The iShares Future Metaverse Tech and Communications ETF will invest in companies that are expected to contribute to the Metaverse in various areas. Although some institutional investors have lost interest in the concept, BlackRock still believes in it.

The future of the Metaverse attracts BlackRock

Investors looking to diversify into the tech sector may consider BlackRock’s iShares Future Metaverse Tech and Communications ETF as an attractive option. This fund provides exposure to companies operating in the metaverse.

In effect, this ETF of BlackRock will invest in companies that will contribute to the Metaverse in various fields. These are virtual platforms, social media, games, 3D software, digital assets and virtual and augmented reality.

The five main companies that are part of these holdings are Meta Platforms, Apple, Nvidia, Netease and Roblox.

However, it is important to understand that the technology is still developing. There is therefore no guarantee that companies exposed to it will succeed.

Additionally, mainstream adoption of the metaverse may take time. According to a recent survey consulting firm KPMG, more than 90% of investors believe the Metaverse is the next phase of the internet. However, many remain cautious due to adoption, regulatory and privacy concerns.

Metaverse Industry Growth Prospects

The concept of Metaverse was invented in 1992 by Neal Stephenson in his science fiction novel “Snow Crash”.

Over the past few years, the popularity of the Metaverse has grown. Online gaming platforms like Decentraland and The Sandbox have already seen considerable success. In addition, new applications may emerge in the years to come.

Experts estimate that the metaverse market could reach billions of dollars over the next few years. According to Accenture, the metaverse business opportunity could reach $1 trillion per year by the end of 2025. Additionally, the economic benefits could be significant, as the industry could create jobs and stimulate economic growth.

While some investors are reluctant to invest in the metaverse, others see huge growth potential in the future.

Ultimately, the future of Metaverse remains uncertain, but it’s clear that more companies and investors are starting to take an interest in it. It will be interesting to see how this sector evolves in the future and what opportunities it will present to investors.
