Co-founded by Sébastien Borget and Arthur Madrid of The Sandbox, and led by Grida, a pioneering figure in digital and crypto art, ArtVerse serves as a bridge between the digital and physical worlds.
Sébastien Borget, the co-founder of the gallery, is also co-founder and COO of The Sandbox, a virtual platform where users can create, play, own, govern and monetize their experiences using NFTs and SAND, the main platform utility token. Sold-out exhibition of YUYU’s Genesis Tezos collection, “A Thousand Layers and A Thousand More”
Dedicated to highlighting the fusion between digital art and Web3, ArtVerse regularly organizes exhibitions for renowned digital artists such as Foodmasku and prestigious brands like Chanel. This time, ArtVerse presents a solo exhibition by YUYU, open from November 8 to 18. This exhibition invites visitors on an immersive journey into YUYU's exploration of memory, time, and the layers of experience that shape human perception.
YUYU, a digital artist known for his reinterpretation of art history through contemporary and digital perspectives, often uses his work to highlight marginalized narratives and postcolonial themes. The centerpiece of the exhibition, an installation of six translucent polyester fabrics, hung asymmetrically, dynamically captures YUYU's artistic vision, transforming the gallery space and inviting the audience to reflect on the interaction between light , transparency, and form. Around this installation theme, YUYU launched its genesis collection on the Tezos blockchain, composed of 15 works of digital art.
With an opening celebration at ArtVerse, the collection launch was met with immediate demand. All works in the collection sold out within 24 hours of the inaugural evening, testament to the strong appeal of YUYU's works in the digital and physical art worlds, as well as the appeal of YUYU's curatorial approach. “Having organized YUYU's first solo exhibition in Paris in 2022, I wanted this second exhibition to highlight a new artistic direction for the artist. This exhibition was experimental in several ways, going beyond the limitations of YUYU's previous work. Notably, she presented her genesis collection on the Tezos blockchain, adding a layer of meaning to the event.
The philosopher Gilles Deleuze once said: “ Art is the creation of difference within established norms. » YUYU did not limit himself to his established style but boldly explored new territories. While many artists are reluctant to step out of their comfort zone, YUYU has risen to this challenge. It was also the first time that his digital-only works were presented in a physical space, thus enriching the experience.
