It’s a fact: AI will gradually become an integral part of our daily lives. With this in mind, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has expressed concerns about the risks associated with artificial intelligence, particularly when it comes to trust and security.
Artificial intelligence, a double-edged tool
Artificial intelligence refers to the ability of a machine to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. Are part of :
- voice recognition,
- the translation,
- decision making.
AI can have many benefits. For example, it improves productivity. But its negative effects should not be underestimated. This is what Charles Hoskinson is talking about.
On X (formerly Twitter), he shared his opinion on the potential dangers of AI. He reacted in particular to an article from the British tabloid The Sun, which claimed that AI girlfriends could betray their human lovers to steal money.
“Trust issues would certainly increase in the future”he replied, without specifying whether he was talking about human relationships or AI products.
AI, a vector for crypto scams
Hoskinson is not the only one to be alarmed by the consequences of artificial intelligence. Many experts and personalities also warn of the risks of AI, particularly in terms of security and privacy.
AI can indeed be used to create misleading content, including falsified videos or voices. We call them “deepfakes”. This content can be used to:
- spread false information,
- harm someone’s reputation,
- to defraud people.
The cryptosphere is in no way spared from these threats. In December, Hoskinson had already denounced an AI-generated scam video. A fake Hoskinson promised to reimburse double the ADA sent to a special wallet.
In short, AI is a complex phenomenon that offers opportunities, but also challenges. It is necessary to regulate and control its development. The goal: to prevent it from becoming a threat to user confidence and security.
