Israeli bank Leumi is preparing a new stage in services related to digital assets. With Galaxy Digital, it will allow its customers to buy, hold and sell Bitcoin, Ether and Solana from its application. The service is scheduled to begin in 2027, in a section of Leumi Trade. Pepper, the mobile subsidiary of Leumi, will participate in the system. The project thus marks the announced arrival of an Israeli bank on the crypto trading market.

In brief
- Leumi is partnering with Galaxy Digital to launch its crypto trading service in early 2027.
- Bitcoin, Ether and Solana will be available to buy, hold and sell.
- Leumi will become the first Israeli bank to offer digital asset trading to its clients.
- Galaxy will provide the infrastructure necessary for cryptocurrency operations and custody.
Leumi prepares a trading offer on three cryptocurrencies
Leumi and Galaxy Digital announced that customers will be able to access three assets: Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and Solana (SOL). They will be able to carry out their operations from a section integrated into the Leumi Trade application. The offer will cover the purchase, custody and sale of cryptocurrencies from the beginning of 2027. Leumi then becomes the first Israeli bank to offer this trading of digital assets.
In their press release released on Friday, Leumi indicated that it will use GalaxyOne Institutional for trading operations. Galaxy will provide its digital asset custody infrastructure, derived from the platform formerly known as GK8. The system must therefore combine order execution, custody and banking access in the same environment. Trading will thus be based on this infrastructure.
A partnership that expands the bank’s crypto services
Maya Ravia, chief strategy officer at Leumi, sees digital assets as a growing component of the global financial system. She believes that this initiative will provide our clients with simple, secure and regulated access to digital asset trading.

For his part, Lior Lamesh, CEO of Galaxy Israel, believes that pioneering banks will participate in the evolution towards an open and programmable financial infrastructure.

The partnership is therefore part of a desire to integrate cryptocurrencies into existing banking services. Crypto trading thus joins the services offered. For clients, trading will go through their bank’s investment platform.
The project, however, comes after a difficult quarter for Galaxy Digital. L’company announced a net loss of $85 million in the second quarter, mainly linked to the decline in digital assets. Despite this result, its crypto business generated adjusted gross profit of $66 million, up 34% quarter-over-quarter. Galaxy Digital, led by Mike Novogratz, is listed on Nasdaq since May 2025 under the symbol GLXY.
Leumi-Galaxy partnership prepares a new stage for digital assets
The launch planned for early 2027 will give a new dimension to the services offered by Leumi. Customers will be able to buy, hold and sell Bitcoin, Ether and Solana from the bank’s investment platform. Galaxy Digital will provide the infrastructure necessary for operations and custody of assets. This integration will thus bring together several functions linked to cryptocurrencies in the same banking environment.
Until then, the two partners will still have to specify the access terms, fees, limits and necessary authorizations. Compliance with banking requirements also represents an important step before opening the service. These elements will make it possible to concretely define how this new offer will work for Leumi and Pepper customers. The next step will therefore depend in particular on the regulatory progress of the project.
This development will finally give a first indication of the place that digital assets can occupy in Israeli banking services. Leumi serves millions of customers across its retail and commercial operations, giving the project significant reach. The launch will thus make it possible to observe the reception given to this new functionality and its integration into existing services.
