A study shows that a significant number of American voters hold cryptos. This is not trivial data, especially since with the presidential elections approaching, they could position themselves as a relevant electorate for the candidates vying for the White House.
19% of registered American voters holding crypto
Recently, investment firm Paradigm conducted a survey on how cryptocurrency ownership is shaping up in the U.S. political landscape. And the figures from this study deserve some attention.
Indeed, they show that 19% of Americans registered in the electoral register own cryptos. Interesting information, especially since it reveals an important demographic group that can have significant electoral influence.
But Paradigm’s investigations show something else. Crypto ownership rates are broadly similar at 18% for Republicans, 19% for Democrats, and 24% for independents.
This suggests that crypto adoption is not strongly linked to membership in a specific political party. In other words, individuals from different political sides are equally likely to own cryptocurrencies, highlighting the apolitical nature of this trend.
A distrust of policies to manage crypto
It must be said that despite this prevalence regarding crypto ownership, the two major political parties in the United States are not really convincing. Particularly with regard to their capacity in terms of cryptos.
Thus, there is skepticism towards both Republicans and Democrats. 49% of all voters expressing distrust in their ability to effectively manage the business, questions and issues surrounding crypto.
In terms of demographic proportion, men aged 18 to 54 have the highest ownership rate at 40%. This figure signals a strong affinity for cryptos among this group of individuals.
But basically, African Americans and Hispanics are increasingly participating in crypto trading and use. Their ownership rates reach 33% and 32% respectively. This demonstrates a growing diversity within the crypto community. However, it appears that the latter now has limited options as several pro-crypto candidates have withdrawn from the race for the Oval Office.
