The famous banking establishment Standard Chartered has just published a forecast that is, to say the least, optimistic regarding the future development of Bitcoin. According to its analysts, the price of the flagship cryptocurrency is set to reach $200,000 by December 2025!
Standard Chartered predicts Bitcoin will rise to $200,000 by 2025!
The price of Bitcoin could soar in the coming years, boosted by the highly anticipated arrival of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) backed by BTC. This is what Standard Chartered bank anticipates in a note published on January 9.
According to analysts of the establishment, the launch of the first Bitcoin Spot ETFs could trigger a massive influx of institutional capital into the crypto ecosystem. Geoffrey Kendrick, head of emerging markets research at Standard Chartered, estimates that these funds could attract between $50 billion and $100 billion in their first year of activity, in 2024.
Such a large influx of institutional capital could have a tenfold effect on the price of Bitcoin. According to Mr. Kendrick’s forecasts, the price of BTC could exceed $200,000 by the end of 2025 as a result of this institutional adoption.
“ If Spot ETF flows materialize as we expect, we believe a price close to $200,000 by the end of 2025 is realistic.” , did he declare.
Tempting prospects for investors
This very optimistic forecast echoes that recently formulated by the Bloomberg agency. The latter also anticipated a 6-digit Bitcoin price within 3 years, even before the effective launch of the first spot ETFs.
Spot ETFs allow you to replicate the price of Bitcoin without having to buy or hold the crypto. They thus open the door to institutional investors, still reluctant to venture directly into this market perceived as risky.
Major financial players like BlackRock, Ark Invest and Fidelity are currently working on launching such products. And the appetite already seems very strong: Eric Balchunas, ETF specialist at Bloomberg, estimates that the first spot Bitcoin ETF could raise $10 billion upon its launch.
An institutional adoption which is confirmed
The imminent arrival of the first Bitcoin ETFs confirms the growing interest of institutions in the crypto ecosystem.
Even if some investors remain skeptical, mainstream adoption of Bitcoin seems well underway. With nearly $1,000 billion in capitalization, the cryptosphere is now too heavy to be ignored by institutional investors.
By offering a simplified vehicle to institutional investors, Bitcoin ETFs could trigger a rush by them towards this new asset class. And, as Standard Chartered predicts, drive the price of BTC to new heights in the coming years.
Of course, there is no guarantee that these very optimistic forecasts will come to fruition. Nevertheless, they reflect the paradigm shift underway regarding the queen of cryptos. After years of skepticism, Bitcoin is gradually emerging as the future of finance and investment.
