Despite a resounding crypto success, Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s Layer 2 Ethereum solution (SHIB), is experiencing operational decline. Mihailo Bjelic, the co-founder of Polygon (MATIC), believes that Layer 2 zkEVM can help improve Shibarium’s operational efficiency.
In short
- Mihailo Bjelic, co-founder of Polygon, proposes to integrate Polygon zkEVM to improve the efficiency of Shiba Inu’s Shibarium blockchain.
- Adopting Polygon zkEVM could not only benefit Shibarium, but also other crypto projects based on Layer 1 blockchains.
Polygon zkEVM, to permanently revitalize Shibarium?
After several months of relentless development, stakeholders of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) memecoin made a major breakthrough on Wednesday August 16. Indeed, they have formalized the launch of Shibarium, a Layer 2 blockchain based on Ethereum.
A launch which did not meet with the expected success since the infrastructure encountered difficulties, barely being put into service. The situation has certainly recovered. Even if it caused the blocking of approximately $1.7 million in ETH during its launch.
However, technical challenges are still very present and their effective and urgent resolution is necessary. In particular to guarantee the operational relevance of Shabarium in an ultra-competitive Layers 2 market.
Polygon (MATIC) co-founder Mihailo Bjelic indicated that he could help raise them. Help that he offered, Wednesday August 30, in a post he published on X (formerly Twitter). Its solution is Polygon zkEVM.
According to the expert, the adoption of this Layer 2 solution should make it possible to increase Shibarium’s operational efficiency. The latter having been largely reduced by the influx of an excessive number of users and transactions during its launch.
A phenomenon whose repetition is not excluded when we know the particular enthusiasm of users for SHIB. Mihailo Bjelic believes that by exploiting the capabilities of Polygon zkEVM, it is possible to meaningfully expand the Shibarium ecosystem.
This does not only concern this blockchain. The proposal from the head of Polygon applies to any crypto project based on a Layer 1 blockchain. The same goes for initiatives using a sidechain, which he has also massively called for to migrate to Layer 2 solutions.
“I recommend the Shiba community (and other L1 or sidechain projects) migrate their blockchains to an Ethereum L2 using Polygon zkEVM, the industry’s first zk technology. It’s a simple choice,” said Mihailo Bjelic.
Polygon’s key role in resolving the Shibarium incident
The manager did not fail to welcome Polygon’s assistance in restoring the functioning of Shibarium. “We are delighted to have been able to help; Shibarium now works seamlessly », he indicated. The latest news is that this technical improvement has had positive repercussions. Shibarium notably recorded an increase in its users. Around 35,000 new crypto wallets were registered in a single day, bringing the total number of users to over 100,000.
