Using Web3 against the climate crisis, is it possible? – Interview with My Lovely Planet

In the rapidly expanding world of Web3 and blockchain technology, innovative and environmentally-oriented projects are increasingly present. Today we have the pleasure of interviewing Clément, the founder of My Lovely Planet, a mobile game that uses blockchain to encourage environmental protection. We are going to discover together the origin of this ambitious project, what distinguishes it from other mobile games and how it envisions its future.

1. To start, can you tell us how the concept of My Lovely Planet was born? How did you manage to make it happen?

My name is Clément and I am the founder of My Lovely Planet. After doing a preparatory class, I joined the Ecole des Mines de Paris, option energy, I had the chance to be trained in environmental issues by the expert Jean Marc Jancovici.

I was 22 when I left to work in an NGO in Madagascar, one of the poorest countries in the world. I discovered magnificent landscapes, ravaged by the imprint of man and climate change. This one-year experience radically changed my life and my view of the world.

I then decided to dedicate my life to finding innovative solutions for climate protection. Technology at the service of the environment is my guideline.

I first started by creating Lilo, a search engine that finances social and environmental projects. With Lilo, we donated more than 4m euros to NGOs and created a community of more than 6 million monthly users.

It is as a result of this momentum that was born My Lovely Planet. A mobile game for the protection of the environment.

The mobile game market concerns 2.5 billion people and weighs more than 100 billion dollars each year. It is from these figures that I imagined a system that would allow everyone to play while protecting the environment.

2. What sets My Lovely Planet apart from other mobile games, especially those that are also blockchain-based?

My Lovely Planet brings a strong innovation in the field of mobile games. Indeed, every action performed in the game is transformed into action for the environment in the real world. This changes the paradigm of mobile games.

On the blockchain side, My Lovely Planet has chosen a different approach from most Web3 gaming projects. Indeed, the game My Lovely Planet is 100% free. No need for NFT or Metamask to login and play the game.

My lovely Planet takes the blockchain as a technology to enhance the gaming experience and multiply its positive impact for the planet. This technology will be invisible to players. Thus, they will have an integrated wallet created at the first connection. They will be able to buy and spend My Lovely Coins, the in-game cryptocurrency, directly in the app.

My Lovely Planet is aimed at a generalist audience by using web3 tools as assets to strengthen its product and its mission without being an obstacle to people who are not familiar with web3.

3. Environmental protection is at the heart of My Lovely Planet, but you operate in an environment where greenwashing techniques are regularly used to attract users. What actions are undertaken IRL by your project? How did you select your partners and why? How does the concept of “Play-to-Save” manifest itself concretely in-game?

First, My Lovely Planet is a company with a mission.

The company’s environmental commitment is therefore at the heart of its statutes. In addition, My Lovely Planet donates 15% of its turnover to partner NGOs. It is a figure to be compared with the margins of the sector which are on average of this order.

Greenwashing mainly consists of masking actions that are harmful to the environment with communication. Here we are in a diametrically opposed approach.

My Lovely Planet now has 3 flagship actions:

• reforestation;
• the depollution of the oceans; And
• the protection of biodiversity.

For this, My Lovely Planet has established partnerships with associations renowned for their seriousness and competence. We work in particular with Sea Shepherd, one of the main NGOs committed to the protection of the oceans, or the SPA for the protection of animal well-being in France. These partnerships are the result of a collaboration of trust over several years with my first company Lilo.

4. Your dirty public started on May 22, how do you plan to succeed? What are the benefits for investors? What will it be used for in the long term?

My Lovely Planet has a radically different approach from most blockchain projects by putting environmental impact at the heart of its mission.

• 40% of the total supply of tokens is allocated to an environmental fund;

• 12% is reserved for buyers of private and public sales;

• As a result, when investors gain $1 in value, the environment will gain $4.

In this way, My Lovely Planet aligns the interests of investors and those of the planet.

In addition, My Lovely Planet’s strategy is to propel the token into the top 30 cryptos in the world and thus pass the 2.4 billion valuation mark, in order to create an investment fund for the environment of 1 billion dollars.

It is by creating this radically different approach that aligns profitability and impact that My Lovely Planet intends to succeed in its fundraising. And this strategy is bearing fruit with the bar of 1 million euros raised in total to date.

Investors will thus be able to vote for projects financed by My Lovely Planet. In the long term, My Lovely Planet intends to develop an ecosystem of Web2 products using web3 technology like its mobile game (My Lovely Shopan ethical competitor of Amazon; My Lovely Friendsa social network, etc.)

This ecosystem of Web2 products will be based on the My Lovely Coin. Investors will be able to use all of these products to earn rewards, gain access to exclusive products and also earn a share of the value created.

5. You aim to create a community of 100 million players committed to the environment by 2030. What is your strategy to achieve this ambitious goal? What place does Web3 have in this strategy?

Our strategy is based on three pillars:

• The first is our assignment strong environmental protection. This speaks a lot to the younger generation who suffers 45% from eco-anxiety. This translates into a strong membership and virality of the game, especially on TikTok where after only one year of communication in France for its beta, My Lovely Planet has more than 500,000 subscribers. We will therefore be able to quickly scale up internationally with the launch of the game and global influence partnerships.

• The second pillar is the creation of a game platform. In fact, when you start the game, you have access to a Game Arena in which several mini-games are available to you, such as Tetris or Candy Crush. Today, four games are present, but the long-term goal is to offer a platform with thousands of games. Thus, each player will be able to find a game to his liking.

• The third is the “seemless” integration of Web3 into the game. This will allow a totally augmented gaming experience with access to content, competitions or exclusive communities without having the barrier to entry of web3. But it will also allow you to earn My Lovely Coins for the most regular players.

6. What are your plans for the future of My Lovely Planet and how do you see the role of blockchain evolving in your ecosystem?

The blockchain has a central place in our ecosystem. Our strategy is to develop an ecosystem of Web2 products using web3 technology like its mobile game (My Lovely shop, an ethical competitor of Amazon, My Lovely friends, a social network, etc.) which will all be based on the My Lovely Coin.

The strength of My Lovely Planet will therefore be its MLC token and its community. 100 million people who will adhere to the company’s values ​​and mission and who will therefore be natural users of all of its products. This gives consistency and a very powerful force.

Our ultimate vision is therefore to create the largest community for the protection of the environment which will democratically manage the largest fund for the protection of the environment, thanks to an ecosystem of products based on the My Lovely Coin token. .
